Let me introduce myself. My name is Maria Cowen. I?m a writer and a translator. I seek sponsorship for a translating project having as a goal publication of the first part of a sweeping Science Fiction trilogy, ?Tower of Eternity? by Marcin Palasz, in US and other English speaking countries. Translation of literary works written by Polish writers in Polish language to English will have many benefits. Popularization of Polish books in the entire English speaking world will bring a fresh literary experience to readers, exposure of their work to wider, international audience for very talented Polish writers, and ultimately will result in raising the prestige of Poland and its people on the international arena.
The sponsorship will allow me to take the time to translate the first part of the trilogy and secure US publisher for the book. I also plan to approach British and Australian publishers. Translation is a time consuming process and I estimate that it will take roughly 8-10 months to translate 400 pages book, 2-3 month for editing, and 3-4 months for marketing. The modest estimate is: 1,500 per month during translation process, 2,100 during editing and marketing stage (there will be extra expenses for hiring readers, printing copies of the book and sending them to publishers). Any full or partial contributions to the project will be greatly appreciated.
Your sponsorship will benefit you in various ways. Apart from a tax write of you will receive a copy of published book with your name in dedication and acknowledgments sections. Depending on the amount of your donation there is an option of sharing of proceeds from the sales of the book. I offer monthly updates on the progress of the project.

About the Translator:
Maria Cowen MA, is an educator, writer and translator for the last 20 years. Ms. Cowen worked as an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of Hawaii at the Department of Psychology. She now works as a freelance writer and journalist. Polish is her native language.
